In this Unit, you are going to become more familiar with WISE from an educators perspective. By the end of this unit, you will be able to:

  • Be able to navigate through WISE as a Teacher, identify and discuss the projects, management, communities, and help process, associated with Teacher's PET portals.
  • generate different ways that WISE supports teachers in adopting the WISE into their classrooms.

Activity A.

Get comfortable with WISE==Take about 10-20 minutes and explore WISE on your own as a teacher.

Activity C.

Implementing WISE into your classroom is not an easy task. Please read through the following and see how the WISE project has studied current learning environments to help you make your environment the most successful that it can be. What are some things that you can learn from these studies? How will this effect the way that you will implement WISE within your classroom?

Discussion 3: What are some things that you have learned from these studies? How will this effect your will implementation of WISE within your classroom?

Activity D.

You are now on your way to adapting WISE within your classroom. Remember the main goal of WISE as stated by Slotta " is to help teachers (educators) interact deeply with their students concerning their ideas about science, helping all students develop a personal understanding and a rich experience of inquiry (9-8)." So keep this in mind throughout your experience with WISE...the importance of developing a personal understanding and a rich experience in relation to WISE.
