UNIT 2: What happened to the File menu?

The Office Button

Office Button Capture.JPG

Any long-time user of Word will most likely slide the mouse to the upper-left-hand part of the screen in search of the File menu. In Microsoft Office Word 2007, it has been replaced with the Office Button. Simply click on that button, and you will see the same basic commands you have always used.

In this unit, you will work with the most-frequently used features on the Office Button drop-down menu.

At the completion of this unit, participants will be able to:

  1. create new documents
  2. recognize the difference between Save and Save As and know when to use each appropriately
  3. close and open saved documents
  4. print a document
  5. select individual Word Options
  6. exit Word 2007
