-Learners will be able to identify the features of project-based and collaborative learning within the context of the MOON Project.

-Readings for collaborative and project-based learning.
-Reflection- How the MOON Project is an example of both collaborative and project-based learning.

Project-based Learning vs. Collaborative Learning
The MOON Project contains two components:
1. Project Based Learning component The students work on a project together in class to achieve a real-world problem. Students take the information that they observe to target an essential question, identifying the phases of the moon. The project is broken down into segments to solve the question to explain the mechanisms behind the phase changes.

2. Collaborative Learning component. This is linked to learning communities where students work together to synthesize information to address a real-world problem. The students work not only amongst themselves in class, but also work with other students in an international level online, or through essays submitted by their teacher.
