# Basic Number Properties

## Welcome to Basic Number Properties

My philosophy is that all maths have basic principles that are for the most part consistent. I believe that math becomes easy and natural once these concepts are understood and an integral part of a student’s knowledge base, such that the student automatically recognizes these concepts as truths.

The purpose of this course is to present basic number concepts by activating prior knowledge and promoting inquiry so that students can make the connection and familiarize themselves with these concepts to the point that they become part of their natural thinking process.

It is my hope that the units in this course do just that. The course can be used as an introduction to any math course grade 6 and up, and as a review or reference through out students’ math careers. Basic number concepts apply to all mathematical topics from basic algebra through advanced geometry, trigonometry and calculus.

Comments and suggestions are welcome can be posted in the discussion pages for each unit. Good look have fun and happy hunting!

## Unit One

So far in math you have learned four basic operations and the purpose of variables. Basic Number Properties Unit One is a quick review of these concepts.

## Unit Two

By now you should know that all numbers have certain consistent behaviors and variables are used to represent unknown numbers. Basic Number Properties Unit Two is a study of the consistent behaviors that numbers exhibit when the addition/subtraction operation is a applied.

## Unit Three

Basic Number Properties Unit Three is a study of the consistent behaviors that number exhibit when the multiplication/division operation is applied.

## Unit Four

Basic Number Properties Unit Four investigates the properties of equality that number exhibit when part of an equation.

## Unit Five

Now that you have learned all the basic properties, lets apply them to an algebraic problem to see if the applications of the properties help us solve for the unknown value. Basic Number Properties Unit Five
