Step 1

• After you select your topic from a list or are given a particular topic by the teacher, your next step is to gain some background knowledge before you set your purpose and goals for creating your lesson. You’ll want to use your independent learning skills from unit 1 in order to obtain a scope for your analysis.

• Once you have an idea of the topic, brainstorm with your group about the purpose and goals that you’d like to accomplish through your research.
  • Remember: your purpose and goals should address why you should learn about this, as well as the main ideas of the topic.

• Check that you thoroughly understand your topic well enough to teach your peers, by answering these questions.
