Unit 2: Tier 1 Intervention

Before exploring the information below on Tier 1 interventions in the RTI process, click the link below and answer the following questions in your digital journal.
What type of behavior interventions have you used in your classroom? What do you do when students are struggling to learn material? Did you ever experience a helpful intervention in a classroom when you were a student? If so, what was it?
Tier 1 Interventions
According to the RTI Action Network, Tier 1 includes core instructional interventions that benefit all students; "all students receive high-quality, scientifically based instruction provided by qualified personnel to ensure that their difficulties are not due to inadequate instruction. All students are screened on a periodic basis to establish an academic and behavioral baseline and to identify struggling learners who need additional support." If a student is identified as "at-risk" then they will receive additional instruction in their regular classroom during the school day and their progress will be monitored.
