Activity One

Congratulations, you have made it to the end of this mini-course! Together, we have learned all the necessary knowledge and skills needed to create an ELA lesson using media literacy concepts where students can develop and strengthen their media literacy skills. In this last lesson you will select new media document(s) and apply media literacy concepts into a full-length ELA lesson. Make sure to include the following components in your lesson plan:

  • The lesson title
  • Lesson overview
  • Curriculum area and grade level
  • Suggested framework (Curriculum Context)
  • Learning Objectives
  • Vocabulary
  • Preparation & Prerequisites
  • Time needed
  • Materials and Equipment/Technology
  • Step-by-Step Procedures
  • Notes on Pedagogy
  • Assessments
  • Extensions and Adaptations
  • Appendices

Upload your lesson plan in our Media Literacy folder:Media Literacy Mini-Course 2017

Reminder: Please label your Google Doc and all other files with your full name and assignment. (i.e. Stephanie Aquino Media Literacy Final Project Draft). Please use double space, 12 pt Times New Roman font and 1" margins. Please remove all extra space between paragraphs.

Lesson Wrap-Up

Revise your original lesson plan draft based on the feedback that you received from your peers. Upload your final lesson plan on the Google drive folder: Media Literacy Mini-Course 2017 Please label your Google Doc with your full name and assignment (i.e. Stephanie Aquino Media Literacy Final Project).
