My biographical information
I have been teaching mathematics since 2004, first as part of a Masters then PhD program at UAlbany. In 2012 I finished up the work required for a PhD in mathematics with my area of study being algebraic combinatorics, particularly root systems of Lie algebras. In fall of 2013 I began taking education courses in an attempt to become more literate in the subject matter, find ways to improve my own teaching, to acquire the background necessary for teacher certification, and to start to learn more about an area that holds potential research interests for me. Much of this interest sparked from me seeing a continual decline in the mathematical ability of students entering my classes. As of Fall 2013 I am teaching quantitative business analysis at Siena College.
My personal information
My interests outside of academia are all over, mainly outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, climbing, scuba diving, swimming, and I also am interested in emergency medicine and continue to practice as a medic one night a week.
