For the past five years, I have been an Adult Education Instructor for Orange-Ulster BOCES. My goal is to prepare adult learners for the high school equivalency test (the TASC...formerly the GED). Starting this year, the curriculum has been Common-Core-aligned, and covers all subjects on the high school level. My favorite subject to teach is math, although it is becoming much more rigorous and challenging to teach to my students.
I have a huge interest in motivation and the new trendy term: grit.
I received my B.S. in Education and Special Education from Temple University in inner-city Philadelphia. I taught for 4 years in Bethlehem, PA as a Special Education Teacher at Freedom High School, where I taught American Government and English.
My Personal Info
After living in Philadelphia for 5 years, I developed an enjoyment for taking trips to places that involve history, especially American History. I have visited the Acropolis in Greece, the Colosseum in Rome, the Tower Bridge and Parliament in London, and recently visited the Revolutionary War sites in Boston for the first time. Someday, I would like to see more of the U.S.
Marriage brought me to New York seven years ago when I married my husband, Michael. We live in Unionville, NY, with our dog, Piglet.
