Needs Assessment feedback -- Dbyrne (talk) 18:45, 11 October 2014 (EDT)

Hi Tibisay,

You have made excellent progress on your needs assessment, and have created a strong rationale for some of the more subtle educational benefits of integrating technology: motivation, affect, and a focus on the contextual aspects of learning.

One piece of advice: you might want to fine tune your intended audience to either grade level (k-12 vs. academia for example). It is not necessary however.

Very good work so far. I'm looking forward to seeing the continued development of this project!

HI Tibisay,

The development of your course is progressing really well. I have some brief feedback for you within your text below.

Performance Objectives[edit]

At the conclusion of this course, students will be able to:

[I think if you fine-tune the objectives using the ABCD model in the ID text, p.119- you will be able to expand these by including the behaviors, and their conditions and degrees. For example:

• Learners will understand how to create Quick Response (QR) codes.

• Learners will demonstrate their understanding of how to create Quick Response (QR) codes by independently using the “XX application” to create one QR code and associated links, and posting the QR code to the course wiki page.

• Learners will identify the importance of technology in the classroom. [Identifying importance is more of a Course level objective/goal of the course. How can you put this into action for your learners and have an activity that is assessable?]

• Learners will develop lesson plans utilizing Quick Response (QR) codes in their classrooms.

• Learners will identify different methods of utilizing this technological tool in the classroom through peer lesson review.

• Learners will describe the benefits of utilizing Quick Response (QR) codes will have on their students through forum discussions.

Task Analysis[edit]

[Your tasks are well sequenced, and you actually can work backward a bit from these Tasks/Activities to expand your learning objectives more].

Unit 1: Why do we use technology in the classroom?

1. The learner will be engaged in wanting to learn more about the topic. (Pre-requisite)

2. The learner will define technology in the classroom.

3. The learner will analyze the reasearch and data which supports the use of effective technology strategies in the classroom.

4. The learner will develop a list of technological methods which engage students in the classroom.

5. The learner will be QR codes and their use inside and outside of the classroom.

Unit 2: How to create a QR code?

1. The learner will identify QR code creating websites.

2. The learner will access and review websites' ease of use and accuracy.

3. The learner will work with their peers to create a database of resources for QR code creation.

4. The learner will outline a class activity where they can utilize a QR code.

5. The learner will create checklist on how to create a specific QR code for the class activity.

6. The learner will explain how using a QR code will enhance this activity.

Unit 3: Utilizing QR Codes in the Classroom

1. The learner will review activities created by educators and posted online which use QR Codes.

2. The learner will create a lesson plan utilizing QR codes.

3. The learner will review lesson plans created by their peers.

4. The learner will evaluate their peers' feedback.

The learner will analyze how QR codes impacted their lesson planning

You've done an excellent job on your curriculum map - it is very well-organized and clear to understand the flow and connections within your mini-course.
