Nocole, Your mini-course will address an important topic. Please catch up with the schedule to conduct deeper needs analysis and learner analysis (what the participants/teachers typically know, where the gap is, and how your mini-course will address such gap) and define the course level objectives.

Nicole, the recent updates you made in your portfolio page look very helpful clarifying the outcomes of learning for the participants. I agree formative assessment and feedback is critical to effective inquiry and PBL. Just a quick suggestion: you may set your focus on formative assessment and feedback IN/For PBL instead of AND PBL, so you can narrow down your focus with depth. Of course you still need to give an intro to PBl, but very briefly, with links to mini-courses in KNITL and online materials if the participants do not already know PBL. Please work out the objectives and task analysis.

Hi Nicole,

Re. your statement of objectives, you may think about alternative performance verbs that can demonstrate understanding of the following three aspects. For example, #1 may say "define" and "explain." #2 may say "illustrate ... using specific examples..." #3 may say "design formative assessment to enhance learning in specific areas..."

After completing this course, the learner will be able to:
Understand what formative assessment is and the benefits of using it in the classroom.
Understand the various types of formative assessment that can be implemented in the classroom.
Understand how to design formative assessment opportunities to enhance instruction

Please work out your sequence and units soon based on these objectives.
