# Lesson 2.2: Problem Solving

Objectives:

• Identify different ways to solve common core algebra problems.
• Implement graphing calculator skills to solve common core algebra problems.

Overview: There is almost always more than one solution to every problem. Problem solving is an important 21st century skill that students must acquire to be successful today in college and a career. In order to effectively solve problems, students must have access to as many solutions as possible. All of the following Common Core Algebra Exam questions can be solved with or without using the graphing calculator.

1. State one method to solve each problem without the graphing calculator.

2. State one method to solve each problem using the graphing calculator.

3. Solve the following Common Core Algebra Exam questions using the graphing calculator.

4. In the discussion tab for this lesson, discuss the following questions:

• Were the graphing calculator methods more efficient?
• Were the graphing calculator methods accurate?
• Do you think your students would prefer the graphing calculator methods?
