KNILT Category Tags

From KNILT

Why do we need Category tags?

KNILT uses the Category function of Mediawiki to index its mini-courses. With each mini-course including a set of Category tags (themes) in its front page, KNILT shows its full list of mini-courses based on the thematic areas: See Special:Categories. The user can search a category keyword to find the related mini-courses.

How to add Category tags?

Please watch this short video: File:How to add category tags.mp4

  1. Select Category tags appropriate for your mini-course. See the list below (What Category tags should I use?);
  2. Open your mini-course front page, click the tab of Edit Source, scroll to the bottom of this page;
  3. Add each selected tag by copying and pasting it inside [[]]. For example, the mini-course Facilitating Effective Online Discourse included three Category tags, as shown in the screenshot below.
  4. Save your page, and you will see the Categories you've added on the tool panel (e.g. under Page Tools and More...) of your page .

Add Category tags

You only need to add category tags to your mini-course frontpage (intro page), not the pages of the different units/lessons.
