Learner Characteristics

• Private Prep school students, grade 9-12,
  • high academic achievement,
• No prior experience in Chinese.
  • very limited capacity to process inputs in target language.
    • break down the load of new vocabulary.
      • no more than 5 at a time.
      • recycle vocabulary.
      • listening and reading first, then speaking. Writing is the last one.

Goals for Course

At the end of the year, students will meet the ACTFL proficiency guideline as Novice Mid/High.
