Personal Page: About Me
Hello! My name is Danielle Greene and I am a graduate student at the University at Albany working towards my Certificate of Graduate Study in Online Learning and Teaching. In Fall 2021, I am hoping to officially start my Master of Science degree in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology.
I graduated from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in May 2020 with a Bachelor of Science in Education degree, majoring in Earth Sciences. I am certified to teach Earth Sciences (grades 7 - 12) in the state of Pennsylvania and was a substitute teacher in the Conestoga Valley School District (Lancaster, PA) during the COVID-19 pandemic. I taught 8th grade general science online using a Learning Management System called Schoology, and I also taught seventh and eighth-grade science for the Conestoga Valley Virtual Academy using a program called Odysseyware.
This experience taught me just how important it is to be flexible as a teacher. You need to expect the unexpected, and be prepared for your journey to not always go the way you planned. I enjoyed my time as an online teacher, and because of this experience I have decided that online teaching is a path that I will pursue as part of my future teaching career. My short-term teaching goals include using the latest technology to improve my current lesson plans in a way that will promote student engagement, and create materials for virtual instruction that will be beneficial for my students.
