About This Course

This course is designed to teach the learner how to create safe and healthy classroom environments that respect diversity. The learner will have opportunities to reflect on the current climate of their classroom environment, explore strategies that promote respect of diversity in the classroom, and integrate strategies that demonstrate respect of diversity in the classroom.

Needs Assessment

I found that there are various interpretations of the terms 'diversity' and 'culture'. Additionally, I found that learners do not always understand the bias that exists, even in the classroom. My mini-course means to address any misconceptions of cultural diversity and guide the participant towards creating a safe and healthy classroom environment that respects cultural diversity.

Performance Objectives

  • The participants will measure the level of diversity of their group of learners.
  • The participants will critique their classroom environment at present in relation to respect of diversity.
  • The participants will integrate culturally inclusive and responsive practices with their current practices.
