Collaborative Learning with Technology
In the education world today there is increasing pressure toward student centered learning. Meaningful learning comes not form a textbook but from one’s ability to explore the world around them and form knowledge based on their experiences. In addition, students are growing up in an ever evolving technology based society. Therefore, it is necessary to design instruction which stimulates inquiry and incorporates current technology. Collaboration is one way in which students can work together to learn from one another. Often, teachers are overly concerned with the technology that the lesson loses sight of the content or vise versa. Also, teachers fear setting students loose to build their own knowledge. With all this in mind this course was developed to introduce teachers to the idea of using technology to foster collaboration amongst students.
