Professional and Educational Background
I am currently a public school educator in the Lower Hudson Valley in New York State. I teach middle school Mathematics and ELA as a Skills/AIS teacher. As a Math and ELA Skills/AIS teacher, I provide reinforcement of skills and concepts learned in daily math and ELA courses. This is my second year teaching at the middle school level. Prior to my current position, I have taught 3rd and 4th grade Enrichment, 1st-4th grade Math AIS, 1st grade general education, and 3rd grade general education. I have also tutored privately and taught for the Summer Institute for the Gifted.
I hold a B.S. in Childhood Education/Mathematics from SUNY New Paltz and am currently completing a M.S. in Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology with a concentration in online teaching and learning at SUNY Albany. Prior to pursuing a career in education, I completed extensive undergraduate coursework in English Literature and Psychology at the University of Vermont. I truly enjoy being both a student and a teacher.
I am married, but do not have children yet. Instead, I have three cats (Jack, Buddha, and Jitters) and a wonderful chocolate labrador named Ani. My favorite thing to do is spend time with my family. I also enjoy camping, swimming, reading, and music. Although I grew up in Queens, NY and on Long Island, NY, I absolutely love the country and am drawn to mountains and water.
