My Topic/Purpose

This mini-course focus on Whole Brain Teaching. It is a teaching technique that is becoming more well known across the United States. This highly organized and disciplined technique allows for students to have fun while following the classroom rules and practicing their basic skills and core curriculum. Whole Brain Teaching is beneficial to both educators and students.

As a participant of this mini-course you will learn the background of Whole Brain Teaching, analyze the benefits of Whole Brain Teaching, and you will have the opportunity to create a mini-lesson based on this technique. This mini-course will allow you to assimilate Whole Brain Teaching into your classroom practices. The participant will become acquainted with the rules and steps that must be followed by the students when in the classroom setting.

Needs Assessment

Many students in school today lack discipline and have a hard time following rules. Students also have a hard time engaging themselves in the curriculum or lacking problem solving skills. Whole Brain Teaching helps to put an end to this. This technique puts a creative spin on teaching that is beneficial to the students and teachers. Students have fun following the rules and steps of this teaching technique while engaging in learning opportunities. It is important that as educators we remember to have fun with teaching while being organized and disciplined.

-The participant will be able to explain what Whole Brain Teaching is and what this technique entails and how it is beneficial to both educators and students.

-The participant will create a mini-lesson based upon Whole Brain Teaching.

-The participant will evaluate their lesson and reflect on if it includes the Whole Brain Teaching techniques.

In this unit you will take a Whole Brain Teaching pre-test to find out what prior knowledge you have on the subject. You will read an overview of Whole Brain Teaching after you take your quiz. Unit 2: File:Wbt powerpoint.pdf

In this unit you will analyze Whole Brain Teaching and find out why the rules, steps, teaching techniques, ect. are so beneficial to both the students and the teacher.

Unit 3: In this unit you will create your own lesson and include the styles and techniques of Whole Brain Teaching. Once you are done you will write a short evaluation of your lesson and post the lesson plan and evaluation under the class homepage under the discussion tab. I know must of us have a preference for lesson plan templates so I am letting you decide which one you want to use!
