What specific technologies impact academia, and in what ways do demographic and market changes require these technologies? How do Web 2.0 applications - being open, distributed, and democratic - help or hinder creative work? Do these models of collaboration and learning bypass the traditional "gatekeepers", or has another model arisen to judge the quality of work? What benefits are provided by a decentralized organization though these applications? How do these technologies change the way in which people interact with other people?

In what ways can classroom innovators use the power of the collaborative web to provide an array of "strands of knowledge" to students? To develop new innovations, is it preferable to teach a small amount of specific content-area knowledge, be flexible and learn multiple fields, or surround oneself with multiple perspectives and expertise? How can we transform a classroom into a creative community of learners? In what ways could we improvise in this context? Hoes does this impact the role of the teacher within the "organizational chart" of the classroom and school, and does it assist in meeting the challenges of modern social needs and demands?
