Welcome to Corrective Reading and Reading Naturally Mini Course. This course has been developed to provide educators with an understanding of why the Corrective Reading program and Read Naturally software are used in conjunction to build fluency and comprehension in struggling readers. A great deal of special education classes use a direct instruction procedure. However, it is the way in which this program can be personalized and followed by the Read Naturally software for a remediation tool that increases the productivity of students in reading. The direct instruction approach is becoming a more common use in classrooms, especially special education. This course will help the teacher embrace the philosophy of the direct instruction approach but personalize it so that it meets the needs of the students. Furthermore, the data collection and understanding of how to use Read Naturally as a remediation tool is what will set reading instructors apart from others. The teacher participating in this course will understand how to implement the program, collect data, and apply remediation instruction based on what the findings are from the Corrective Reading participation.
This unit will give a complete explanation of why Corrective Reading and the Read Naturally program are used in conjunction with each other.
