Reflecting back on our case study, your solution to your principals’ request most likely would be to begin guided reading with your class. Now that we have covered what guided reading is in unit 1, in this unit we will cover the key roles of the teacher and student in guided reading. According to Fountas and Pinnell, guided reading is a small group instructional context in which a teacher supports each reader’s development with strategic actions and a teacher selected reading level.
