Let's Get Started

Start by Accessing the Program

Unfortunately this app is for Apple Users Only (iPhone or iPad): Go to the App Store, search ZipGrade, and download.

Open the Program

You will have three options to select, for this course we will be using Use Without Account

Let's Create a Class

The bottom menu has five options for you.

1. Click classes.

In the top right hand corner you'll see "New".

2. Click "New"

3. Name your class!

For this course I will use this class name > Class Name: Demo Class

4. Click "Save" in the top right hand corner

Now you've created your first class! Feel free to create as many classes as you need for your teacher schedule.

Let's Create a Student ID

On the bottom menu

1. Select "Students"

In the top right hand corner you'll see "New".

2. Click "New"

3. Type in the student's first and last name

For this course I will use this student name > First: Demo Last: Student

  • Make sure to give your student their ID #

4. Add your student to the appropriate class

Just simply click the class they are in at the bottom so you can see a green check mark.

5. Click "Save"

Feel free to create all of the student IDs you need for your class.

Let's Create an Assessment

On the bottom menu

1. Select Quizzes

2. Select "Create New Quiz"

3. Pick the size of the assessment to fit your needs (20, 50, 100 questions)

  • Note! You don't need to ask exactly 20, 50, or 100 questions on your assessment. You can have blank questions leftover on your answer sheet.

For this course I will choose > "Use 20 Question Answer Sheet" In the top right hand corner
4. Click "Edit"

5. Name your Quiz

For this course I will use > Name: Demo Quiz
6. Define a Class

Click the green arrow and choose the appropriate class name. I will choose > Demo Class
7. Click "Back"

Let's Create an Answer Key

1.On the appropriate quiz screen, click "Edit Key"

2. Bubble in the correct answers

  • Note! This app allows you to have multiple answers for one question

3. Click "Done" in the top left.

Let's Print Forms

Go to www.zipgrade.com/forms/

1. Scroll down and download the size form you need. I will be choosing the 20 Question PDF to download.

2. Once downloaded, you will be able to print, like a normal document

4. Choose your printer and the number of copies needed

5. Click "Print"

Let's Give the Assessment

1. Give out blank forms and quiz

2. Have students fill out their Student Name and Student ID # and bubble in appropriately

  • The 20 Question Form is special! ZipGrade can actually scan the name of the student! How awesome is that? On the 20 question form the student could just write their name and not have to bubble their ID number and ZipGrade would scan it to their ID.

3. Students can then bubble their answers.

  • A dark writing utensil should be used. Black pen or pencil preferably.

4. Once they are finished, you can scan for results!

Let's Scan

Make sure you are in the appropriate Quiz first.
1. Click "Scan Papers"

2. Line up the edges of the form with the four corner boxes
3. It will automatically scan for you

Let's Analyze Results

On the bottom menu

1. Click Quizzes

2. Select the existing quiz you want to analyze

3. Click "Review Papers"

This allows you to see student's percentile scores.

4. Click "Done"

5. Click "Item Analysis"

This allows you to see how many students got each question wrong. It shows the percent of the class which got the question right. It also shows the wrong choices that were selected.

Let's Discuss

  • Click on the discussion tab at the top of this wiki page to share your successes with the app and your creative implementations of ZipGrade in the classroom. Also if you are fortunate enough to purchase more features for the app, discuss that here as well.
