Good progress has been made. Two comments:

(a) you may want to dig deeper in to the pedagogical thinking underlying animation use. This wikipedia article might be helpful: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Educational_animation

(b) Your performance objectives are not following the "rules" highlighted in Gagne's text (see the objectives chapter)

Susan,

I love the idea of your design project and how important you feel about integrating technology into lessons. The questions you have in your performance objectives, are those questions you hope that educators can answer after they view your project? Will you give a tutorial/instructions on how to use the GoAnimate site, as well as different ideas on how to implement and write lessons incorporating GoAminate?

My performance objectives are what I hope educators will be able to do when they complete the course. I plan on giving a tutorial/instructions on how to use the project as well as ideas. I was thinking it would be great to have a page that people could post ways in which they have used the program successfully.

Susan -

What a great way to reinforce major social studies/life ideas. Within the social studies realm, tremendous emphasis has been placed on political cartoons. As a result, educators are always looking for newer ways to focus on this skill. Being able to have students create and assess the work of their peers is a major component of effective social studies instruction.

"Go Animate" is a new site for me -- i can't wait to review your work further and learn more about it!

Susan, this is a very cool topic. I think you have a great idea and are off to a good start on it. Something that I thought of was the fact that I was very unfamiliar with the website, so when you break down your lessons I think some time should definitely be spent just on familiarizing your students with the website. Although you're focusing on a specific animation tool, your unit 1 may begin with the concept/idea of animation in teaching and learning in general (as what I suggested you earlier).

The function/benefit of animation in instruction may vary across different subject areas and in different models of teaching. For example, teacher designed animations are mostly serving the needs to information delivery and demonstration; having students design and explore animations may additionally support their inquiry and knowledge processing.

Susan,

I think your project looks great so far. Your portfolio page has a lot of great information including the examples of goanimate projects you and your daughter created. I didn't see any prerequisities for your objectives, though I'm not sure if those will be part of the grading process. I really enjoyed the interactive discussion areas of the lesson pans and think this is a really engaging activity. When I got to the discussion area there was no link back to the previous lessons or future lessons, so I had to continue to press the back button. You may want to add some links to make it easier to navigate. Also, I'm not sure if the rest of the links were not there or the lessons hadn't be created on wiki yet but after Lesson II discussion area I could not get any further into your project. Other than that, I think your project is a great idea and so far your wiki pages look great.
