Jason,

You've had an excellent beginning in this project! Your analysis to assess the needs and characterize the learners is very helpful in informing your subsequent design work.

Re. your course-level objectives

Upon completion of this course learners will be able to:
   * Understand the importance of video and how it can be used to improve instruction
   * Produce a video by creating a screen capture
   * Understand basic functions of Camtasia Studio
   * Demonstrate basic operations of Camtasia Studio 

I'm wondering how the last three objectives are substantially different. My sense is that the basic functions are basically the operations, which are used to produce a video. Am I right? You may want to clarify. As well, you may further think about how you can further highlight the pedagogical side of video use in your mini-course. For example, will learners be able to understand how to design lessons utilizing these videos in addition to making the videos? Will you give one or two lesson examples?

Thank you for the comments Professor Zhang. They are very helpful. You are right the last three objects I posed can essentially be tied all together into one objective instead of three separate ones. I will modify my objectives and makes sure I include the pedagogical side of video use as well. I did have that in my mind but planned on making changes to my objectives as the design of the course moves forward.

Hi Jason,

Your ICM is well worked out and will guide your productive design. A few comments:

• "Demonstrate the ability to (explain)" --> "(explain)." Simplify of the statements.
• Last objective in Unit 1 is not so clear , think about changing it to something like: identify educational contexts where screen captures can be effectively used???
• Last item in Unit 2 seems to include everything above.

• The pedagogical side could be strengthened and more specific, in Unit 3. Are you going to address anything related to student inquiry, such as having kids create videos to demonstrate their knowledge and work?

Thank you for the feedback Dr. Zhang. I did make the changes and I feel my objectives are much clearer now.
