Hi Anne,

You've had a successful kick-off of this design project to design a mini-course on undergraduate research (how to organize, present, and assess it). Excellent topic. Informative needs assessment based on related survey and research. Clearly defined goals/outcomes of learning. Nice work.

Based on your list of goals/outcomes of learning, you may further clarify what types of outcomes each of these represents based on the classifications we have learned: Gagne's veral info, intellectual skills, attitudes...

Your work on performance objectives and task analysis has been very productive. I especially like your definition of the objectives in light of the different types of learning outcomes and your sequencing of the objectives.

A few refinements: 1) The following objectives can be clearer to define the criteria of the handout/rubric. · Create an assignment handout (Bloom's Creating/Gagne's Intellectual) · Create an assignment rubric (Bloom's Creating/Gagne's Intellectual)

2) Objective-lesson consistency: Each of your objectives will appear in your instructional task analysis and map. Task analysis is not about the activities to be used in your lessons, but the objectives to be address in each unit that form a coherent progressive trajectory of learning leading toward the course level target objective.

3) Your course level objective on the top of your map needs to be restated using a performance verb.

One issue to your attention: The following objective appears in Unit 1 and again in unit 3.

Also, I feel that based on the reflection on previous experience and hurdles in your unit 1, you may help distill/set out a few principles/guidelines to address the hurdles. These principles will be reflected in your subsequent units to guide specific design and assessment of research projects. Without principles, I'm a bit concerned that this mini-course will be too procedure-focused.
