Needs Assessment Feedback -- Dbyrne (talk) 14:13, 12 October 2014 (EDT) -- Dbyrne (talk) 14:13, 12 October 2014 (EDT)
Hi Aimee,
Although I know that your needs assessment will be a work in progress with some revisions likely occurring over the next few weeks, you have created an excellent needs analysis here. Your review of the literature on meta-cognition has provided you with a basis for identifying gaps and educational benefits. The survey helped you identify more local needs, while it also provided useful feedback via the open-ended questions. I see the link as you are working to use that specific feedback to help generate learning objectives. I agree, your scope may change as you continue to work on the project, and it is very insightful to recognize that you might need to change that, and it is part of this process.
I'd like to share a meta-cognition resource with you that I use and/or promote in many of my educational settings. This Visible Thinking website from Harvard has some great thinking routines for learners of all ages. The left hand toolbar categorizes the thinking routines: http://www.visiblethinkingpz.org/VisibleThinking_html_files/03_ThinkingRoutines/03a_ThinkingRoutines.html
Enjoy! Deb

Another round of feedback -- Dbyrne (talk) 12:20, 3 November 2014 (EST)
Hi Aimee,
It is clear that you have thoroughly thought through each of the components of your course so far - excellent work! I think that you can expand your learning objectives a bit more by using the ABCD model in the ID text (p.119). You currently have the Audience (A), and the desired Behavior (B), but you can add a bit more about the Conditions (C) and the Degree (D), which I think you have in some parts of your Task Analysis and in the paragraph about assessment.
I know from reading your discussion posts that your course is self-directed, and I think your plan to add in visual elements is a good one. I liked your idea of a self-assessment quiz using free online tools as well.
I don't have more for you at the moment except to say that your progress and work so far is excellent, and I am looking forward to looking at the course!
