It's All Greek To Me!

Welcome to the 6th grade course study on Ancient Greece! Ancient Greek civilization is responsible for introducing the world to democracy, the Olympic games, architecture, theater, and amazing discoveries in science, math, and literature. The world we know today was built on the accomplishments of ancient civilizations. Greek civilization began around 4,000 years ago. Early Greek civilization, like the Minoans and Mycenaeans, were greatly influenced by the geography Greece. Geography often determined how people lived and how their culture developed. This development led to the idea of citizenship and democracy. The Greeks brought us great art and architecture, the myths of the Greek gods, epic adventure stories, and tales of war that you think are only found in movies. As we study ancient Greece, think about how that ancient civilization influences our lives today. Think about the accomplishments of the Greeks that remain a wonder today. Think about what life would have been like if you had lived in ancient Greece. Where would we be without the Greeks?
