Abstract: This mini-course is designed to give participants an authentic experience on how using a simple simulation of a natural phenomenon can help to create an inquiry-based classroom.

Abstract: BYOD stands for "bring our own device". With this policy in place students are permitted to bring thier mobile devices to school for instructional purposes. In this course you will learn about BYOD, what educators think about BYOD and how various types of mobile devices can be used for instruction, both inside and outside of the classroom.
Course Objective: Define various types of mobile devices and list at least five functions that would enhance student engagement. Identify at least three mobile applications and define classroom uses for such applications. Enhance three current lesson plans to include a moble application/technology component. Identify at least six ways in which student engagement is enhanced by integrating mobile technology in a classroom setting. Contribute at least three lessons to a shared WikiSpace page which will contain mobile technology integrated lesson plans that they have created in the class. Abstract: The purpose of this mini-course is to show how the program Glogster can be used in classrooms for interactive presentations. Glogster allows students to create and share interactive posters with eachother and the rest of the world. It has a vareity of uses ranging from education to expression. In this course i will show you how to use glogster to create simple glogs. i will also include a unit that invloves students making a glog and giving a presentation on it. My example could be applied to any educator who has ever had students make a poster/powerpoint to demonstrate and share their knowledge of a topic. Educators can also use Glogster to teach their lessons, it is a fun, intetactive way to present information and couples nicely with new technologies such as smart boards

Abstract: Now, more than ever, it is essential for classroom teachers to become comfortable and proficient at preparing our 21st century learners for their 21st century world. The speed of the technology advances is mind-boggling. Just trying to keep up can seem a herculean task. Many teachers are given access to, but not always provided training enough to use these technologies to their advantage; often resulting in it being underutilized or worse, avoided.

Abstract: There is no question that we are in the middle of a technological revolution. The majority of our students are engulfed in several forms of technology everyday and come to school equipped with the knowledge to use technology. Since the iPads unveiling in 2010, this device is showing up in more and more school districts with the assumption that it is a beneficial tool for education. Many students are familiar with the iPad, but does the same hold true for teachers? Are teachers receiving the necessary training needed to use this device and incorporate it into instruction in an effective way? Read this interesting blogpaying particularly close attention to statements 1-3 and number 6. Does this sound like any teachers you know? Unfortunately, the majority of us would probably answer yes. Are we reaching the full potential that the iPad has to offer? Rather than using this device as a reward for students to play games on, why not take a different approach to the way we use it in our instruction.

Abstract: This project will mainly focus on one ELA component; writing, through writing workshop. Writing workshop is a method of teaching writing where students are given a set of procedures for planning, drafting, revising, editing, and publishing their writing with the help of procedural guidelines. Also, it allows for students to write in different writing styles like persuasive, expository and how-to essays, which ultimately help to foster a love of writing. Workshops give teachers the chance to meet the needs of their students by diversifying and tailoring their instruction based on information gathered throughout the workshop.
Course Objective: The purpose of this course is to introduce Writers Workshop from a student teacher approach in which students learn some common core ELA standards; in a fun and exciting way.

Abstract: After reviewing the mini-course, individuals will execute the purchase of iPads, set-up an education account with Apple's volume purchase program, and create an Apple ID to be used with all iPads in the school by setting up a school's iPad technology program when their school or agency requires the need.
Course Objective: Given a school with a need for an iPad technology program, learners will generate an educational account with Apple and be aware of certain procedures that will be helpful to the long-term success of a technology program, in order to allow the agency/school to use the program by any employee that is designated in the future. Given a school with a need for an iPad technology program, learners will select and use accessories and storage (logistical) items, within the budget and space constraints of the school/agency.

Many students in special education classes are provided by their district with an iPad for communicating or another source of technology to help and teachers do not have a clear understanding of how to use it.
