E-portfolios for Post-Secondary Educators
With technology on the rise, E-Portfolios are becoming more and more popular. E-Portfolios are the same thing as portfolios except they are online as opposed to being on paper. E-Portfolios are a collection of an individuals work. E-Portfolios can include resumes, cover letters, design projects, and many other documents.

After completing this mini-course on E-Portfolios, learners will be able to do the following:
- Understand the need and importance of E-Portfolios.
- Design and create an E-Portfolio.
- Use E-Portfolios to evaluate students performance.
- Learners will need to be able to perform research using the Internet.
- Learners will also need an e-mail address to set-up a Tripod account.
Unit 1 will introduce the learners to E-Portfolios. It will contain information such as defining E-Portfolios, learning about their purpose, and lastly viewing examples of them. Learners will also need to complete four activities (a survey, post to a discussion board, look at examples of E-Portfolios, and create a Tripod account) before they can move on to Unit 2.
Unit 2 will provide learners with more detailed information on E-Portfolios and learn about the design process. Learners will also be starting their final project of creating their own E-Portfolio. Learners will need to complete the activities (reading an article, viewing a Microsoft PowerPoint Presentation, posting to the discussion board, and downloading SeaMonkey).
Unit 3 will provide the learners information on E-Portfolio Assessment. Learners will learn in detail how to assess students E-Portfolio. Learners will continue working on their final project and complete it by the end of the unit. Learners will need to complete the activities (reading an article, posting to the discussion board, and complete final project).
Unit 4 which is the final unit will provide learners with information on how to create a rubric. Learners will then create a rubric that they can use to assess their students E-Portfolio in the classroom. Learners will also critique a classmate’s E-Portfolio and submit their final project to the instructor. Learners will need to complete the activities (read two articles, posting to the discussion board, create a rubric, evaluate a classmate’s E-Portfolio, submit their final project and take an end of the course survey).
