Instructor comments on your project -- Jz833665 20:01, 4 March 2012 (EST)

You've clearly define and justify the intent of this mini-course and found some critical references on this topic. Please conduct your needs assessment soon to elaborate what early grade instructors typically know and need to know about this topic; and create performance-based objectives for the whole mini-course.

Instructor comments on your objectives -- Jz833665 10:44, 22 March 2012 (EDT)

Your expanded needs assessment is helpful and informative, and your objectives are clear. Two suggestions:

  1. Your number 1 objective should focus on understanding what reading comprehension means (e.g. beyond word decoding), to provide pedagogical rationale for the use of assistive tech. You've made this clear in your needs assessment, and should include it in the course, as related to both understanding and attitude (e.g. why).
  2. Think about whether "give examples" is better a performance term than "Identify "
Identify various assistive technology aids to support reading comprehension.

Please finish your task analysis and ICM soon.

Instructor comments on your draft units -- Jz833665 14:35, 24 April 2012 (EDT)

I've read the draft unit you've created, and it looks well organized and informative. I've created a new page as the front page of your mini-course, separate from your portfolio page that stores your backstage work.

I suggest that you think about the following issues as you further improve your unit 1 and work on the other units:

1) creating an inviting beginning and adding it to the new course front page I've created for you.

2) Your unit 1 stops at the benefits of blogs, and you may want to provide suggestions/strategies about how to use blog to support productive learning. You may revisit the example you provided earlier in this unit to look at how to use blog for educational purposes. Making good use of examples will help make your unit more interesting and engaging.

Colleen, I can't see your unit 1. Thanks, Mercedes
