I am a graduate from the University at Albany with a BA in Biology, MS in Special Education and a MS in Reading. I am currently enrolled in the MS program for Curriculum Development and Instructional Technology. I am a Special Education Teacher in an Autism Classroom at the middle school level. We work to streamline the common core standards with daily living skills to provide a comprehensive education program to our multiply disabled population. Our goal is to create lifelong learners who are functioning within their communities.
I grew up in Saratoga Springs, NY. I currently reside in the Spa City with my husband Jeff and our three children Max (11), Ella (8) and Georgia (4). I have a love for the outdoors. I spend a lot of time running (I have completed 6 marathons), and gardening. In addition I have my private pilots license and enjoy soaring over the capital region. I believe in possibilities and this translates into my passion for teaching.
I currently work in a self contained classroom with severely autistic students. I feel we need a more comprehensive educational program for all students. I believe that our public school systems should provide all students with a free and appropriate education. My goal is to help develop a program that helps to push students of all abilities reach their full potential.
